The Ruger No.1 in 7x57 Mauser is highly praised as a compact, accurate, and classic single-shot rifle perfect for stalking, typically delivering 1" to 1.5" groups at 100 yards.

It is lauded for its superb balance, strong falling-block action, and elegant design.

Performance and Characteristics

Accuracy: Generally excellent, with more than sufficient accuracy for hunting out to medium ranges.
Handling: Often described as a "magic wand" due to its quick pointing, compact size, and light weight.
Ammo/Bullet Selection: Performs very well with 154 gr SST bullets and is considered a great match for the 7x57 cartridge. Many shooters recommend 140-grain to 160-grain bullets, with some indicating that 140-grain mono-metal bullets (like TSX/GMX) or 140-grain Nosler Partitions work exceptionally well.
