Member-Issued vs. Public Editions
- Serial Number Prefix: Member-issued rifles carry the "MP" serial number prefix (standing for Mounted Police), whereas versions sold to the general public carry an "RCMP" prefix.
- Production Numbers: The member-issued version ("MP") is scarcer, with roughly 4,850 to 5,100 units produced, compared to the larger public release.
- Markings: Both variants generally feature "M.P." branded or marked into the stock and right side of the receiver, alongside commemorative gold-plated receiver finishes, a 22-inch musket-style barrel, full-length forend, and a medallion.
Value and Compatibility
- Estimated Value: Mint-in-box condition MP-serial member-issued rifles generally command a higher price than standard public editions, often ranging higher on the secondary collector market depending on whether the original packaging and paperwork are included.Â
- Market Status: Because these were commemorative pieces manufactured over 50 years ago, they are exclusively found on the secondary and collector-gun market.
